Banksy The Artist

Who or what is Banksy? It is the pseudonym of a graffti artist, political activist and painter. The true identity of the man is not confirmed. Although it appears that he was born sometime in 1974 and raised in Bristol, England. Some people have noted that him and Blek Le Rat have similar styles in the way their art work is done. He has done his graffti on walls in such places as a sexual health clinic in Bristol. This one is of a naked man hanging from a window. Another he has done is an image of Death on the water line of The Thekla.

His art work has sold for some very high prices at British auctions. Two prints of Queen Victoria as a lesbian sold for 25,000 British pounds. Banksy prints have been becoming very popular among some art collectors.

He has done stencils of Charles Manson in Archway, London. He has traveled around the world doing his art in places such as, New Orleans in 2008, Bethlehem in 2005.

His art work can be found in the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad ride in Anaheim, California at Disneyland. He also does stickers and sculptures and done the cover art of Blur’s 2003 album Think Tank.
